GOATS FARMING

Saanen goats

After our agricultural studies and a cycling holiday started from Holland we settled into the Bletonnets, Villecroze in 1982 and started farming Saanen goats.

We make our own goat cheese, soft and hard. We sell most of our cheeses at the Lorgues, Salernes and Aups markets. We also sell directly from the farm.
The goat farmer’s days are full, but the goats don’t get much rest either.

A goat’s day:
5.30h wake up and breakfast of dried grass
6.00h milking while eating cereals
9.30h out into the fields
17.30h tea time of dried grass
18.00h milking time again while eating cereals
22.00h a little more dried grass before bed time

Opening hours at the farm are: from Wednesday to Saturday from 8:30 to 12:30 (closed on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday).
